About
Putting mental wellbeing at the heart of our city
Genesis Beijing is designed to be a new positive intervention in the future of cities.
Cities are becoming harsh places to live, more and more driven by wages, high living costs and separation from home. Genesis Beijing is designed to reset priorities, helping people explore their identity beyond making a living and re-find the social and family ties that make us whole.
Genesis Beijing is a social business project with large amounts of our profits re-directed into the cultural and educational aspects of the site. It is our intention to invite the city in – as far as possible, the site will serve the community members, the neighbourhood and people across the city.
We hope Genesis Beijing will be an inspiring model for others – in China and around the world. Cities everywhere need to work hard to create community and make space for the individual to grow. Genesis Beijing intends to be the platform for that.
我们的
主要任务
Our
Priorities
We are exploring a rich tradition and philosophy at Genesis Beijing. There is a great deal to experience on the site, but underpinning everything are four key objectives:
Nourishing social connections of all kinds
By hosting events with an educational dimension that bring together unusual combinations of people.
Understanding the people we serve
Through close insight, and by developing a network of partners who can help us create community around new interests
Offering flexible education
By creating a teaching style led by the learners themselves, and by enabling both fun experimentation and deeper immersion in the subject
Encouraging deep engagement with the environment
By providing unexpected details around the site and offering experiences for different moods – from the most contemplative, to the most lively and engaged
